Carex pensylvanica

Carex pensylvanica, also called sedge, oak sedge or Pennsylvania sedge, creates a soft and plush underplanting beneath trees and is as attractive as it is easy to grow. Its green foliage is slender, delicate, and arching creating a very soothing almost ocean-like feel as it waves in the breeze.

This sedge prefers average soil that is moist but not soaked and thrives in part shade. The multihued green foliage will fill your landscape with greenery and interest. This variety of Carex pensylvanica spreads by rhizomes but will self seed if optimal conditions are met. Ideal for woodland gardens, sedge, a semievergreen perennial, acts as a stabilizer that ties everything in the garden together. It is also easy to care for because it is disease resistant, drought tolerant, and unappetizing to most pests. Welcome all to your garden with ‘Banana Boat’ and its sea of movement that is sure to please.
