Clematis Expander

Expander offers a fresh take on clematis for gardeners who love vibrant blooms but prefer a plant that stays grounded. Unlike classic climbing types, it belongs to the integrifolia group, which grows in a bushy, upright form instead of climbing. What sets this variety apart is its fully open, dark pink bloomsa rare and exciting feature in this group. Each flower pops against green foliage, delivering big impact without the need for trellising. This compact perennial is ideal for borders, containers, and the edges of sunny beds.

Wide, Open Blooms With Rich Color: Each blossom is a rich, deep pink with fully unfurled sepals; you won’t find nodding or half-open forms. The flowers are large, showy, and offer a fresh visual profile rarely seen in non-vining clematis.

Bushy, Upright HabitNo Support Needed: Clematis Expander reaches about 23 feet tall and wide, forming a tidy mound of color. Its the perfect addition to container gardens, the fronts of full-sun beds, and the edges of pathways or borders.

Reliable Bloomer From Expert Breeding: Bred by renowned Polish clematis expert Szczepan Marczyski, Expander delivers strong summer flower power with minimal care. Part of our Green Prune Group, Expander blooms on new wood and benefits from consistent trimming.

In ourEZ Pruning Guide, this variety is in theGREENpruning category. These Clematis bloom on new vines that emerge from the ground each year or stems from near the bottom of older vines. Prune hard in the spring and as often as you like to encourage reblooming and keep the plant as tidy as you like.
