Ferocactus pottsii var. alamosanus is a stunning barrel-shaped cactus known for its robust form and fierce spines. It typically grows up to 1 meter tall, with deep ribs adorned by clusters of long, red to yellow spines that give it a striking appearance. The spines are thick and curved, adding to the plant’s bold aesthetic. In summer, it produces yellow flowers at the top, eventually forming small fruits. Native to northwestern Mexico, this cactus thrives in dry, arid environments, making it ideal for xeriscaping or as a dramatic addition to desert gardens.
