Holmstrup Arborvitae

Holmstrups narrow footprint makes it a go-to for homeowners working with limited room. At maturity, it tops out around 15 feet tall and holds to a fairly modest width. That makes it ideal for lining a walkway, tucking into a tight border, or using as a soft screen between properties. It adds height and privacy without the bulk of larger evergreens.

Foliage That Doesnt Fade: One of the first things you’ll notice is how consistent the color isseason to season. Holmstrup doesnt bronze or turn patchy in winter the way some arborvitaes can. The vertical sprays are deep green and tightly layered, so the plant always looks full. Whether you’re viewing it against snow or summer blooms, it holds its tone and shape beautifully.

No Constant Pruning Required: Holmstrup grows at a moderate pacejust 6 to 12 inches a yearso it rarely outpaces its space. That means less time shaping, and more time enjoying how good it looks. You wont need to shear it into submission or worry about it getting leggy. Just plant it in full sun and well-drained soil, and let it do its thing.

Tough Enough for Cold Climates: This isnt a finicky, zone-sensitive shrub. Holmstrup has been proving its hardiness since the 1950s and easily handles conditions down to Zone 3. It’s a solid choice for northern gardens or exposed sites where winter winds can be unforgiving.

Holmstrup Arborvitae brings lasting value to any landscape. Its the kind of plant that provides quiet structure, looks polished without effort, and stays reliable for years. Whether you’re filling a narrow space or building out a foundation planting, this is the evergreen that keeps the whole design grounded.
