Hoya Carnosa Tricolor S

Persisting Tricolour Hoya with Pink-Flush New Growth

Leaves show a clear three-tone effect creamy or pale-cream areas, green fields and pink to red highlights on recent growth set on glossy, succulent, broadly ovate leaves that catch the light with a waxy sheen. Thin, flexible vines carry the paired leaves along a trailing silhouette that works well in hanging pots or spilling from a shelf, and many stems will show pinkish flushing on petioles and new shoots.

This is a selected cultivar with a well-documented horticultural history rather than a new introduction, and youll notice variegation is often most pronounced on juvenile leaves. The foliage does not change into a different leaf form as it matures (no fenestration); instead the plant keeps its ovate leaves while producing longer, scandent growth that can be trained to climb or left to trail.

In everyday ownership expect slower, less vigorous growth compared with plain green Hoya carnosa because variegated tissue has less chlorophyll; variegation also needs brighter light to remain stable and can be lost in dim conditions that trade-off is the price for the multi-tonal look. The wax plant is listed as non-toxic to cats and dogs, and like other Hoyas it dislikes permanently soggy soil, so moisture sensitivity is a practical consideration.

Best for hanging baskets, small shelves or side tables choose a baby/grow-on option if you want to nurse it on a desk, a small pot for a neat shelf or a medium for a fuller display and greater visual impact.
