Deep purple foliage provides adramatic contrast to the usual green and oat-coloured grasses. Misty pink clouds of flower emerge in late spring to early summer and gracefully waft like puffs of smoke above the dramatic rounded leaves. Spectacular crimson foliage follows in autumn. The unusual almost perfectly matt surface of the leaves makes a striking feature in borders and mixed plantings, offering a unique saturation of colour. A feature tree in the dry garden at The Garden of St Erth. Medium growth rate.
