Sanguisorba obtusa (Japanese burnet) is a striking perennial with serrated, grey green pinnate leaves that resembleMelianthus major, offering red tones in spring and warm peachy hues in autumn. From June to August, it produces vivid pink, bottlebrush style flower spikes that rise above neat clumps of foliage, reaching around 50cm tall.

This hardy, low maintenance plant brings movement and bold colour to borders and naturalistic planting schemes. A brilliant choice for pollinators and a reliable, long season performer in most garden soils.
