Despite the name, the Swamp White Oak not only thrives in moist, lowland sites, but also grows well in drier Australian conditions. A generally durable and long-lived tree that once established can be difficult to transplant. The broad, rounded crown creates agenerous and deep shade with its thick fire-retardant foliage, shiny green and glossy on top and silvery-white underneath. Autumn colour isusually yellow with flushes of reddish-purple. A fine specimen or street tree that is adaptable to both dry and wet positions. Slow growth rate.
